1st Time (maybe last time) BLOGGER!

At the closing of the day a full moon has arrived. For me a new adventure begins as a blogger. I almost laugh at the sound of the word "blogger". The first time I heard the word I thought it was someone who clogged with boots instead of wooden shoes. Now I R 1!

I hope to use this site as an opportunity to show off some of my photos. I recently went digital after 30+ years of using film and the only question I have is: What took me so long!

I could say "welcome to the blogging world", but I am only a lurker trying to figure out if I have anything to offer in a blog!!!

Great pic. I love how the darkness of the clouds seem to separate the pink from the blue sky.

I wish you well with blogging.. one thing it as done for me is open my eyes to what is about me, looking at others work inspires me as well.
I am sure you will find a group of folk who's blog interests you and it seems to build from there. It can be addictive.. :O) be warned.

Welcome.

Tom Wigley is right. Train the brain to see what the eyes are looking at.

Photography is like training the camera to see what you see.

To answer some of your questions that you left on a recent post of ours:

1. What to take photos of: Some things are easy. You see a great sunset and say, "Wow, that would make a good picture!" Sometimes you say, "Maybe someone else would be interested in this nice green tree. I has a nice shape." You take photos for location, form, color, visual impact, and because it just tells a story. You are off to a good start with the sunsets, cactus and moon.

2. Tell a story. You already have a fundamental grasp of this with your comment about what a blogger is, and how to add a little spice to the story.

3. Why take a photo? Maybe to just record a memory, or the 1 and 2 above.

4. what to photograph? Everything. Digital is cheap. It doesn't cost anything to erase some photos. Set yourself little projects. Go out one day and shoot everything green you can find. Shoot everything that begins with the letter "B". Shoot the sky or sunset every night for a couple of weeks and compare.

5. Don't let anyone see your bad photos. Delete them. Everyone will say, "Wow, everything he shoots is great."

6. Visit several blogs and read every article they have posted. Look at their photos. What did they say. Don't only look at blogs that you like, look at others and see their viewpoint. Check out some of the blogs in my sidebar, and try to figure out why I like them.

Again, Welcome and have fun.
